A New Family Home

Mountway

Milligan Knight Architects have designed a contemporary house extension for a 1930’s property on Mountway, Potters Bar. The house is located within a conservation area and as such the design is sensitive to the context and existing house, while being contemporary in its detailing.

A New Family Home

A New Family Home

The house has been empty for over three years and our Client is transforming it into a new home for their family. The project consists of a ground floor rear and side extension and first floor rear extension, along with various internal refurbishment works.

A Harmonious Addition

A Harmonious Addition

The design evolved into a harmonious addition to the existing house, whereby the ground floor was expressed as a brick base and the upper floor in white render. This related back to the materials and architecture of the existing and helped reduce the visual scale of the addition. Black steel windows bring a striking aesthetic to the elevations and give character and light to the interiors.
